Hey, I am very interested in purchasing Guild Wars. I'm coming from WoW to GW due to the monthly subscription. I'm going to list my questions.

- If I create a character in C1 can I use him and all he's progressed ( level ) into the next chapter?

- What's the most populated chapter?

- In WoW I have encountered alot of annoying people, I was wonder if there are less jerks here. Maybe even nice people (:

- Does this game use servers?

- Whats the level cap?

Okay, that will do it. I have more but I don't want to bother you too much.

I would also like to add, in WoW you could really screw up your character ( LOL ). But you could fix it up by resetting your skills and stuff. This games kinda got a merge of two classes and it makes me nervous. haha I was wondering if this game's easy to mess up and can you reset just in case you do?

You can take your character to any other campaigns during your progress in the game no matter which campaign you create it in.

Nightfall is probably the most populated area now. Mainly Kamaden.

There are more jerks in these forums than in game itself. You will probably run into about 10 jerks on here before you see a nice person. In game its very different so find yourself a nice guild.

Yes the games uses servers.

Level cap is 20. But level 20 is just the beginning of your journey.

You can always edit your attribute points in town and can change you 2nd profession once u reach 20 and go to the Great Temple of Balthazar and change it for 100g.

-Yep,gotta reach level 10? and get to a specific city to do so,in which a message will pop up with instructions on how to ferry to another continent (continent being,another campaign).Bottom line,yes you can.

-I really do not know...maybe nightfall due to the farms they do at the end.

-Many nice people here,but 70% are jerks.Thing is,GW used to be extremely fun,but Arenanet did some nerfs/patches/updates and RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOd it all up.I do not know why,but many people are dull and never help. I help IF i have time and IF you're not an EXTREME noob.Extreme being you ask for money everytime,and you ask for how to open Guild Wars,you fall into the alt+F4 joke...you know..

PS:Not saying i dont give money to new people,just saying i hate people that spam and beg for it.

-It uses Districs for each town.It has American,International,European,and Asian districts,each with ttheir own separation (excluding American and International)...

IE: American District 1-5
European Italian District 4
European English District 2

Etcetera..the more the people the more districts,they are just so that 1 district doesn't get overcrowded

-Level cap is 20.if you play the game normally,itl take a bit to get there (i am not saying 1 month,but not 3 hours -except some people).If you do a dungeon on the latest expantion (Eye of the North-note,you need prophecies,factions or nightfall to play Eotn.SO if you buy eotn,you need to buy prophecies,factions,and/or nightfall too.Only need one of em tho.)you can get there in about...2hrs?

We are casual,PvE players mostly.WE ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO HARDCORE.The only req is that you are friendly.nothing else ;D.You can do whatever you want,but if you need help PvE is our strongest point.

Any character can progress from one chapter to the next, the only thing you would miss would be a limited amount of what would be considered starter zone content. If you were to move into Prophecies (Original Game) with a character from Factions or Nightfall you would miss pre-searing (great starter zone) and a fair amount of the content would be a bit easy.

Max level is 20, the difference here is that a majority of the content is designed for level 20 characters.

I don't know which chapter would be the most populated, but the major cities in all of the chapters tend to stay fairly busy.

The player base is a fair amount more mature than WoW (not very hard to do) and there are no servers (shards) to speak of, all characters exist in one environment separated by districts (instanced copies of the public areas).

You can change your skills in towns for free, there is even a system for loading saved builds. As for your secondary class you will pick one early on but will be able to unlock them all in the future, your primary class is the only static portion of your character.

First of let me ease your mind, your really cant screw up your character in guild wars, because you are free to change your attribute points whenever you are in a town or outpost. Now for your other questions. Any character you make is free to travel between the three campaigns and the expansion Eye of the North, as long as you have all the cd keys for each game on your account.The population for the game is pretty spread out over all the campaigns at the moment. Unfortunately there are quite a few Annoying people in this game but there are also quite a few help full people and if you get into an active guild you wont have any problem getting help.This game doesn't use servers there are districts and you are free to switch districts at will. And lastly the level cap is 20 but don't let that discourage you the game starts when you get to level 20.

Screwing up a character IS IMPOSSIBLE! Editing skills and attributes constantly with no drawbacks is what I think makes GW very different from WoW. Probably the most annoying people you will find, is people just showing off their money (Cuz thats what mmos are all about these days), and elitist players (dont worry bout them, they are leet when you will start).

I hope you enjoy GW. One thing, tho - you can get the GW Trilogy for $50 - it contains all three chapters - Prophecies(original), factions, and Nightfall.

Yup, all your characters can travel between campains that you own.

Kamadan (in Nightfall) is probably the most populated town, but it's mostly random.
Also, most people own all chapters and simply switch between them.

The internet is Jerk-Territory and MMO's are generally even worse.
That beeing said, find yourself a good guild and you'll (probably) find lots of nice people there

There are no real servers, in GW we use districts which are separated between continent and countries. You can always travel freely between those

lvl 20, so you won't have to grind weeks and weeks before reaching your max lvl. Experienced players can reach it in less than a day, new players should be able to reach it within a few days.

If you create a character in the first campaign (Prophecies), you'll be able to use him/her whenever and wherever you'd like, as long as you get your character there, which is easy enough, considering going from campaign-to-campaign for the first time requires you do to just one quest. Then all you need to do is click on the boat icon that appears on the map and select which campaign (read: major city) you'd like to go to.

I would have to say that Nightfall is one of the most populated campaigns, though every campaign has their fair share of people. Nightfall's major city is available almost immediately after creating a brand-new character, which makes it popular and a big trading area. With my experience of WoW, I also encountered my fair share of the same. You'll come to realize that in each and every game you play, there will be annoying people and jerks. Though, I have to say, there ARE alot less of those types of people in Guild Wars from what my near 5 years of playing have showed me.

No. This game does not use servers. Instead, it uses districts. (Unless you're referring to something else). You can switch to any district you want, any time you want, for free. Just select it in any town you enter. If you are buying an American version of the game, your default district will be something along the lines of... The level cap is 20. It seems low, and discouraging, but it is made to be low so you don't have to pour weeks-upon-weeks, months-upon-months into your character JUST to get him/her leveled up. Absolutely not. There is no way that you would be able to mess up your character. Your attribute points and skill bar can be changed for free while you are in any town/outpost.

Just to add in, there is a Guild Wars Wiki (Similar to WoWHead/Thottbot/WoW Wiki for World of Warcraft) that can help you a lot if you get stuck, or don't know what to do/where to go/how to do something.

Guild Wars isn't broken into chapters but more into missions, either way, completing one for the first grants experience and gold.

It depends, having good builds is almost a must to get into groups. Once you start off it shouldn't affect you at all. But I'd say Guild Wars have less trolls than other MMO's, it's hard to show off skillz when every player can get the exact same thing in seconds.

Kind of, towns are populated with players you can trade or form teams. Once you leave a town you have a whole area just to yourself, no one can steal your kills but drops are randomly assigned to players (an henchmen/heroes)

20, and you will reach it in about 6-7 hours depending on the campaign.

Gw is a forgiving game and allows for a lot of build experimentation and the idea of GW is that all the campaigns are part if the same "world." That being said, you just have to buy all three campaigns and the expansion eye of the north to travel around in them.

The best part of GW [or used to be] is the pvp imho. Anyway, good luck and have fun if you do buy GW.
